Editor's note

China has long held precious experience in child-rearing and the treatment of childhood illness, but today's young parents often lack this. As practice and time test them, we have gradually found that some Western therapies and drugs are at a loss before childhood disease, and one must turn to TCM. TCM's simple, valid, convenient, inexpensive advantage is especially marked in pediatrics; its absence of side effects, and its ability to make the child fundamentally stronger, are without parallel in Western medicine.

To spread these basics, we have, from the dozens of popular-science essays compiled over many years by the TCM pediatrician Prof. Wang Yinglin, selected 16 to post online. The essays fall roughly into two parts: Prevention and Treatment of Common Childhood Illnesses and Pediatric Health and Care-Seeking Tips. More on traditional child-rearing will follow. Comments and suggestions welcome.
